Overhead lifeline and trolley beam systems offers the most flexibility and mobility for workers performing job functions at height. Vehicles accessed can be tanker trucks, ISOTainers, liquid railcars, and hopper cars. These systems really shine on applications where workers have to access multiple railcars and there is not enough room to install access platforms. Many times older facilities do not have available real estate to allow platforms that can operate and conform to railroad envelope standards. SafeRack’s intimate knowledge of railroad codes will give you the confidence knowing the solution presented will work within required regulations. Each particular Railroad has requirements specific to them. Norfolk Southern, BNSF, CN, CSX, Union Pacific have adopted standards that are close to one another but not universal. It is important that any equipment installed near a rail line is designed with these standards in mind.
These systems can be designed to access a single rail line or multiple rail tracks. Each system, single or dual, can be designed for your specific needs and can be customized to the length you need. Many times, efficiencies can be implemented to where system supports can be strategically placed to allow a system the ability to handle two rail sidings.
The number of users per system is another important factor in the design. Some applications require several operators to perform job functions. This must be taken into account when engineering and designing the system. System length, number of users, and vehicle height are all major design considerations for a lifeline or trolley solution.
