Railcar Safety Cages

Our railcar safety cages are built with lightweight—yet heavy-duty—aluminum. They also help meet OSHA fall protection requirements.

SafeRack’s 2-rail safety cage is often used in railcar bulk loading applications and is designed to sit atop a railcar’s crashbox, closing gaps and ensuring a safety working environment for workers. Available in a variety of finishes and sizes to suit any application and railcar type. Powder coating options are available and ideal for use in corrosive environments.

12-INCH-DEEP SAFETY CAGE: PIVOTING WITH COUNTERWEIGHT OPTION

This option provides a secondary pivot motion to the safety cage, allowing for it to function safely and properly even with varying heights of railcars. It is counterweighted and pivots easily for clearance issues.

Railcar Crashbox

The top rail on a tank car encloses an area dubbed the railcar crashbox, which includes a manway that can vary in type and location within the crash box. Because the top rail on a tank car doesn’t provide adequate fall protection, a loading rack with 42-inch handrails should be used when working on top of tank cars. Because the width and length of the crash box area, the height of the tank car, and the access opening in the crash box top rail can all vary, SafeRack loading rack (gangway and safety cage) are designed to accommodate these variations by using a loading rack with a telescoping gangway and a loading rack platform that can be raised and lowered to meet up with the crash box.

Truck Safety Cages

Tanker Truck Loading, Truck Safety Cage and Fall Protection

Bulk loading and unloading facilities depend on SafeRack tanker truck access platforms and truck safety cages to help them run on slim margins and tight schedules, safely turning more tanker trucks, railcars and isotainers in less time. They also help meet OSHA fall protection requirements and also include a 4th rail for added fall protection.

NewlyMigrated - 3038 - Saferack Gangway Lock Down Unit

Safety Cage for Tanker Truck Loading

This option is popular when the gangway working position is precisely horizontal and the walk surface of the gangway matches up with the tank car walk surface. The railcar and truck safety cage rotates in the vertical position, usually outside the common railroad envelope. This option is not popular when varying heights of railcars are present, or the range of the gangway can vary above or below horizontal, since the cage is only horizontal when the gangway is as well.

SafeLok System

Offset Safety Cage for Pneumatic Trailer Loading

Loading and unloading cement presents a unique set of challenges and risks. Typically, cement truck loading requires three stops, increasing the risk of human error threefold. With the new G4 Series Offset Cage, your employees are more protected than ever. The innovative cage, designed specifically for the cement industry, features flared and tapered rungs that give the lid a full range of motion while the equipment is in the working position.

The design also ensures that the gangway and cage won’t have any interference when the equipment is lowered on top of the truck. An added safety feature includes, a lockdown device that allows workers to lift the gangway only when safely on the platform and while pressing the footlock assembly.

Designed to be used with both SFR and SAS gangways and can be offset to either the left or the right. And, like all SafeRack products, it’s built with safety and longevity in mind. The heavy-duty aluminum withstands whatever your job or Mother Nature can dish out.

Plus, the three rails on both ends, along with four rails at the hatch area, provide a sturdy and secure workspace. Additionally, it’s large, 4’x7’ handrail footprint allows workers the room they need to stay productive.
