Leaders in Petroleum, Upstream/Downstream and Natural Gas Safety Solutions

SafeRack has been providing the Natural Gas and Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) industry with safety solutions for years. Because of the changing footprint of natural gas and LPG facilities, including their web of piping, the industry presents a perfect application for our crossovers, work platforms and other safety systems. Built to withstand the elements and to be reconfigured, there’s no better solution on the market.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas LPG parts

LPG Is a mixture of hydrocarbons, consisting mainly of propane, propene (propylene) and butane

  • A simplified propane supply chain would include:
    • Production and Transportation
    • Bulk Plants and Customer Delivery (cylinder filling plants, bulk storage plants, and large industrial customers)
    • End-User Customers (final consumers)
  • Propane is delivered from terminals to distributors and re-sellers via truck, railcar, ship or barge, and sometimes by pipeline, especially on the East Coast and
    Mid-West.
  • Since propane is an odorless gas, when it’s transferred from storage vessels to the loading dock an odorant is injected (Methyl Mercaptan) to detect leaks or spills.
  • LPG and anhydrous ammonia tank cars are sealed pressure containers. Several fittings are mounted on the manway cover plate to facilitate loading, unloading, gauging and testing operations.
  • Two (2) product lines
  • One (1) vapor line

NFPA 58 – Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code

Most people have no idea about the full requirements of NFPA 58. This is why SafeRack and Fisher have worked together to engineer a fully NFPA 58 compliant loading station.

SafeRack and Fisher have worked together to design a safe and efficient loading system for LPG products (DOT 1075), NGL’s or other pressurized gases. This NFPA 58 compliant system provides safe access to the top of railcar, helps maximize product flow and allows for remote or automatic shutdown in case of emergency (fire, leak, railcar rollaway) without requiring an operators/loaders assistance.

Call a SafeRack Representative today to get the facts and see how to make your loading and unloading station NFPA 58 compliant.

The industry benchmark for safe LP-Gas storage, handling, transportation, and usage.
NFPA 58 mitigates risks and ensures safe installations, to prevent failures, leaks, and tampering that could lead to fires or explosions.
Most customers have no idea what it takes to be fully compliant.
SafeRack has partnered with Fisher Control Valves to design and engineer a fully compliant NFPA 58 loading station, which includes:
Emergency Shut-off Values (ESV’s) at railcar
Snappy Joe (ESV’s) back on the rack
The NFPA 58 compliant system provides safe access to the top of the railcar; helps maximize productivity and allows for remote or automatic shutdown in case of an emergency (fire, leak, railcar rollaway) without requiring operator assistance
Full system integration for the loading arms, gangways, safety cages, and ESV connections
An LPG railcar has three (3) connections
Two (2) product connections and one (1) vapor connection
The first step is to attach emergency shut-off valves to the railcar’s liquid adaptor/line and vapor valves
Attach vapor hoses to the emergency shut off valves
Open the liquid adaptor and vapor valves, and then open the liquid and vapor hose valves and other system valves to form an open circuit

FAQ

Are AeroStep mobile work platforms OSHA-compliant?

Yes, all AeroStep platforms meet or exceed OSHA safety standards, ensuring compliance for aircraft maintenance and ground support operations. Features such as enclosed handrails, slip-resistant surfaces, and adjustable height options enhance worker safety.

What Customers Are Saying

★★★★★

Everyone in the SafeRack group was great to work with. I placed this order as a replacement to our damaged equipment. We already knew the benefits of SafeRack loading platforms. We have had one since 2009. We just needed a couple replacement parts.
